Water Parks are the World's Hottest Vacation Spots

Think back to your childhood days and the trips that you took to water parks. The local water park in your hometown might not have topped the list for the best water parks but even the smallest water park probably provided you with more than a few great memories.

That's because the best water parks in the world are an ideal spot for spending a summer day and are a terrific destination for great group vacations. They're suited to all ages, are relatively affordable and bring a sense of excitement to the long days of summer. As the weather warms up and the swimsuits start to come out of the closet, you might want to think about adding a water park trip to your summer vacation plans.

If you get the opportunity to do some international travel this year, there are some amazing water parks located in different countries all throughout the world. These make a perfect vacation destination for groups of young adults (such as college friends) interested in experiencing a place they'll never forget while still enjoying the familiarity of the adventure entertainment they're used to back home. Head to Sunway Lagoon in Malaysia, Adaland in Turkey or Wild Wadi Water Park in Dubai to experience both life in another country and the thrill of some awesome water rides.

Even if you're not a college kid traveling the world with friends, there are some terrific international water parks that you'll find make a great vacation. Multi-generational families particularly love the big water parks which are practically resort destinations because of all that they offer. For example, Germany's Tropical Islands (the largest indoor water park in the world) offers not just water slides but a complete island experience including a rainforest and a beach. Grandma can watch the little ones build sandcastles or supervise teens on the rides while mom and dad slip away to rekindle their romance on the sand. Aqualand in The Canary Islands is another terrific option for big group vacations.

Of course, not everyone is going to have the opportunity to head out of the country just to enjoy a water park. Maybe you have to work all summer to afford college in the fall or perhaps your family's vacation budget is limited this year. That doesn't mean that you can't partake of a water park adventure. Some of the world's best water parks are located in the United States, Canada and Europe so you should be able to find one that requires only a day trip or a weekend to enjoy.

In the United States, head to the state of Florida which has a number of great water parks like Wet'n Wild Florida, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Alternatively, make your way to the Midwest for destinations like Noah's Ark Waterpark in Wisconsin or Splashin' Safari in Indiana. In Canada, go to Edmonton's World Water Park. And in Europe, look for the Aqualand water park chain that has locations in several different countries.

There are a lot of good reasons to make a water park the focus of your summer vacation plans. If you look for deals and budget wisely, it's an affordable vacation enjoyable for everyone in a group. If you pick a water park located at a destination you're intrigued by, you can also see historic landmarks and other attractions. Of course, since everyone has fun in the water, you won't actually need to see anything but the water park to have a great time!
