In the state of Quintana Roo at the southeast of Mexico there is the city of Cancun. The older part of Cancun city is connected by bridges to the newer Cancun which was built up as a resort destination for holiday makers. Cancun was begun in 1970, and then American developers came in the 1980s to feature a booming tourist community.

In the older parts of Cancun exists less tourism. Here you can observe more cultural flavor. You can enjoy to visit traditional Mexican and Cuban restaurants or going for shopping. International chains and flea markets are inexpensive tourist fare. Downtown you will find the bullfight arena which puts on shows every day. In the downtown area you can find also various restaurants and local bars.
Away from the talc beaches and dynamic nightlife, a lot of holidaymakers visit Cancun to discover the ancient Mayan civilization first hand. The Mayan ruins are spread all throughout the Yucatan peninsula. Ruinas del Ray is the closest ruins in Cancun, placed right in the heart of the hotel area. El Ray and El Meco ruins stay on standing just outside the urban center of Cancun. In Tulam, a bit north of Cancun, there is an additional substantial archeological site for researching the former life of the Mayans. For day trips, it is highly suggested to spend time in the lost city of Uxmal or at Xel-Ha.
Xel-Ha and Xcaret are big attractions for Cancun travelers. Both incorporate natural reserves, Mayan ruins and theme parks into one package. Plenty of vacationers have these two spots high on their must-do list. These natural parks provide conveniences which bundle marine life with humans, such as swimming with dolphins. Xel-Ha and Xcaret have saved the natural eco-diverse environments of the jungles and sandy coastlines attractively. The fame of both attractions is because you can see so much and do within both theme parks.
Cancun will keep on to increase popularity as long as Mother Nature remains kind and humans alike. The visual magnet to Cancun is the large shorelines of the Caribbean Sea made of crystal turquoise waters and white sand. It is everything else made into it as a bonus, which drives 1000s of visitors to this famous vacation spot every year.
